After a tenure with the Boston Red Sox that both he and fans alike would like to forget, Grady Sizemore is back to his old self — playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. Boston took a risk on Sizemore, giving him a shot in center field this year, but he did not fail to disappoint. Luckily, it was a relatively low risk experiment, but now the Phillies seem to be getting the high reward Boston was banking on.

In 52 games for Boston, Sizemore hit just .216/.288/.324 and was getting worse by the day. Now, in Philadelphia over the course of 43 games, his slash line is .303/.356/.459, making it clear he can still play the game. The only stat that went down for Sizemore in Philly from Boston is stolen bases. He swiped five bags for Boston and has only swept one in Philly but other than that, he is much better all-around.
At this point, Boston has moved on and the name Grady Sizemore could not be any less relevant. Rarely is his name ever mentioned since he lost out on the job to Jackie Bradley Jr.—who by the way is currently a member of the Paw Sox. It appears a change in scenery did Sizemore well as he looks to be having a renaissance in his career.

During his peak years, Sizemore was a 30-30 player who boasted nearly a .375 OBP. This year, he only has four home runs and six stolen bases in 95 games, but he is still finding a way to contribute on a big league club. Even if he is an average or slightly-above average player, he can still contribute at the big league level and at 32-years-old, he has a few years left.
On June 18th, Boston designated Sizemore for assignment after going 4-for-30 that month in favor of third base prospect Garin Cecchini.
