Well aren’t we lucky right now?
On Wednesday, in a Spring Training game against the Orioles, Will Middlebrooks tried to check a swing, slipped his hand off the bat, ended up getting hit in the wrist. Great, right? Ugh, that boy and his wrist injuries!
If you don’t remember, we lost Middlebrooks for the last 2 months of the season last year (not that it really mattered all that much, I mean, 2012 was just- yea, let’s not go there) due to breaking his wrist. Same wrist.
Needless to say, everyone was a little panicky when Middlebrooks jumped out of the batter’s box and took off to the dugout to get his wrist checked out. It looked especially bad since he slammed his helmet on the ground before doing so.
Good news though- he got his wrist checked out by a wrist specialist and will be alright. He even is cleared to play. Thank goodness.
He is being given a more protective batting glove, to protect that fragile wrist of his.
I’m just hoping that this isn’t going to be a recurring theme all season long. But tell me, what do you think? Is Middlebrooks going to be one of those players that’s constantly injured or was this just some coincidental fluke?
